Below is a list of third-party software applications that have been tested by
Apple with System Software 6.0. Please note that this report does not cover
all Macintosh application software, it only covers those applications that have been reviewed by Apple. For more detailed information on compatibility of an application and System Software 6.0, please contact the developer/publisher.
The testing that was done by Apple did not test every feature of the
application. Instead each application was run through a series of "Quick Looks" (launch, open a simple document, open DAs, Cut/Paste, and print).
This report reflects compatibility information on the version number of the
application listed, and in some instances does not reflect the most currently
available version of a particular application.
Note: Testing was done on Macintosh(R) Plus, Macintosh SE and Macintosh II
personal computers using System Software 6.0. Single Finder(TM) was not used
unless a memory constraint existed. Ratings for all applications indicate
performance of the application running on release CPU's and released System
Software.
Where possible, Apple will update this list with new information. Please check HotLinks for updated versions of this report.
Apple is aware that System Software 6.0 introduced some problems with sound on
the Macintosh Plus/SE, and color on the Macintosh II. Apple will soon be
releasing a new System File, 6.0.1, to primarily correct the sound and color
problems introduced with System file 6.0.
System file 6.0.1 is scheduled to be be distributed to your AA's the week of
August 1, 1988. If the schedule changes, we will post the new target date in
HotLinks.
The general level of compatibility between System Software 6.0 and third-party
applications will remain the same, because many of those incapabilities require changes by the developer of the application. Please see the "System Software 6.0 Compatibility Report" in HotLinks for more information.
If you are having trouble with a software application and System Software 6.0,
we recommend that you check to see that you are using the most current version
of that application. Apple publishes a list of popular Macintosh applications
and their current version numbers in the "Micro-Computer Support Group" folder
in HotLinks. IT IS IN YOUR BEST INTEREST TO BE USING THE MOST CURRENT VERSION
OF ALL SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS.
